Regarding storage, we store wine in an under-stairs cupboard, bottles flat in a wine rack. The last case I bought was some red wine (12 bottles) from a small vineyard in Sicily, tasted on-site, shipped by post. The wine lasted about 2 years and it was only in the remaining two bottles that Mrs Bnc detected any going off-taste Before that the last case of Pouilly Fuisse that I'd bought was in 2011 and the final remaining bottle was still drinkable earlier this year. I should've liked to repeated the order but it's now only available from the wine sellers in bond and bid. I buy from BBR. Generally, after opening, we keep opened bottles (with hand-created vacuum rubber stopper) in the fridge for no more than about 3 days.
