We have a family offset with Lloyds, started many years ago with C&G

One of the few it seems where the offset deposit can come from a party other than the mortagee.

So in our case we can offset the greater amount of offsprings mortgage, but the Offset Deposit account is 100% ours.

I have no reason to doubt the strength of the now matrimonial relationship, but when this all started it was a shared house and shared mortgage with a "Partner" , and the knowledge that our Offset Deposit was 100% secure no matter what happened in the relationships of the younger generation, was greatly reassuring.

Though with nearly 100% of the mortgage offset, and paying no interest thereby, I was never too sure quite how they were making a commercial profit on the arrangement. Maybe they never have !
