thurgartonI am against political union, but very much in favour of the trade alliance that was the aim of the Treaty of Rome.Interesting that you should say that because if you have strong trade links the political links come almost as a by-product. The EU itself is a classic example of trying to force political union on to people who don't want it. The pretense for war was the Sudetanland/French union, the Czech/Slovak one and the Danzig corridor. Possibly the most recent example is that of the break-up of Yugoslavia. Forcing countries into unnatural unions is a sure recipe for disaster with unforseen consequences. You would have thought that the EU would have learnt from that.RegardsHarmy
