We don't normally have a lot of crime in our area but last night at the pub I heard 3 farmers moaning that they'd had electric fences stolen, all of then less than a month old, another chap raising hell because someone had emptied his oil tank and another chap arrived home from holiday to find that several old stone troughs and a couple of young trees had been taken from his garden. There have also been several instances of sheds being broken in to. The police so far have no clues. How I long for the days when you could keep a few cartridges loaded with pudding rice or rock salt and let fly with impunity.
