My daughter, who is still at school and therefore living with us, was told by the Halifax that she couldn't open and account with them without ID and a utility bill in her name. Natwest allow you to open their children's Adapt account online with proof of identity sent by post or checked in branch. Provides kids of 12+ a Visa debit card and, once they reach 16, online banking.I foolishly thought I'd nip to the branch only to be told this nonsense about waiting for an advisor. After 30 minutes I walked out and posted the info. All the docs I sent came back within a few days. They accepted my daughters' NHS cards as proof of ID as I recall.
