Astonishingly in the 13 years concerned I have really only lost £13K even though on average I was paid £400 less per month (than the initial annuity) during this entire period. Could the early years really have overpaid me by so much? Could a comparable policy really have been so much worse? As no details of the calculation are give I'll never know.
