If you have enough capital you do not need a pension. Contributing to a pension scheme reduces your opportunity to accumulate capital. Personal pensions (including stakeholder and excluding SIPPs) and annuities, are a lousy investment because of restrictions, charges, no opportunity for multi-baggers, market impact, lax regulation, inflation etc.
