I am betting a slug and I'm betting it lives in your house as a full time resident. Best idea is to come downstairs in the middle of the night or when the house is quiet and it has been dark for a while and turn the light on.

You don't need the light on. Just wander around bare foot in the dark, and you'll find it soon enough.
