FAQ:
1. What is this board for?
This board is for people who are investing money to have practical discussion about global macro economics, global markets and investment ideas at a market level. Any investment theme is welcome from bonds, equities, currencies and alternatives as long as the discussion is done for the purposes of practical investment. This board is a sanctuary for real investors on TMF who want to judge for themselves what the outlook is without simply following the herd mentality.
Posters are encouraged to share over time how they are investing in order to take advantage of the view that they hold be that positive or negative.
2. What are the board rules?
This board is not the place for philosophical debate, for debates about what is fair, or for how society or the world should be. It’s for dealing with the practical realities of how the world is for the purposes of investment by people that are investing.
This board is not the place for individual stock ideas.
Linking to “permabear” websites such as prudentbear or zerohedge will not generally be allowed unless the poster is making reference to a point as part of a detailed discussion which they themselves have written.
Politics should generally be avoided unless it is for the practical discussion of an economic issue which is related to a government policy.
Technical analysis is welcome if investors use it as part of a broader detailed post. But posts that only include technical analysis and any meta debate about specific levels are better placed on the Technical analysis board.
3. What sort of issues are welcome on this board?
Any issues to do with macro, markets and investment that are on a practical basis. So some examples would be:
• discussion of economic outlooks in countries for the purposes of an investing strategy in the equity market or bond market of that country • discussion of an investment strategy to take advantage of an expected economic scenario or market situation • discussion of global commodity prices and their effects on economies or the effects of global growth on global commodity prices • discussion of economic data that has been released and what how the poster believes that will impact their view on the economic outlook • discussion of future sector trends and how to take advantage of them
4. What sort of issues are not welcome on this board?
Any issues that are philosophical, theoretical or not for the purposes of investment. So some examples would be:
• discussion of theoretical future economic regimes that a poster thinks would be better than the current system • discussion of the fairness of the current system • linking to perma bear websites and simply quoting the websites without it being a small part of a much larger point • posts that are made to push a posters political point of view or to where the poster is repeatedly pushing a view that is not based on an investment view
5. Where can I post about something that isn't appropriate on here?
If what you want to post about does not fit on this board, there is probably another board that will be suitable, for example:
