Anybody here fancy a copy of Heston’s Big Fat Duck Cookbook (hardback) for free?
I have a copy that I will give to somebody who wants it free of charge. I’ll even pay the postage. This stunning book originally retailed for £150 and is available today for £85 on Amazon.

This really is an amazing book, – most of the recipes are not really ‘do-able’ by the average home chef because of the equipment and techniques involved, however it explains everything. I was fortunate enough to eat there a few years ago and the recipes in the book really are what is served in the restaurant. These are not 'watered down' versions like his latest book, these are the authentic recipes. It really does give you an insight into how things are done in The Fat Duck kitchens.

What’s the catch then I hear you say?

Well it’s a long story, but unfortunately my copy got some slight water damage to the cover. I bought it as a ‘work of art’ reference book rather than a ‘working’ cookbook, so I was a bit miffed to say the least. The spoilt brat in me decided that it was unacceptable so I bought myself a new copy to replace it. Obviously it’s the water-damaged one that I’m giving away. It’s way too good to just throw away so I thought someone here might be able to give it a good home.

So just how badly damaged is it then TCM?

Well it’s not that bad at all really. The book comes in a box-jacket-cover thing, which has sustained the worst damage it has some water-staining and the fabric cover has split on one edge. The book itself has some slight water-staining on the cover but is absolutely imaculate inside. I’ve uploaded some pictures here so you can see for yourself:

Obviously, I’ve only got one copy of this masterpiece to give away, so anybody that wants it is going to have to work for it…

I will give the book to the person whose reply to this post gets the most recs (provided that they actually want it of course!). I don’t care what they get the recs for, whether it be humorous comments or whatever, but it would seem appropriate that it should be cooking related, so perhaps a (really, really) good recipe might win. Basically, the rec system will just be used as a voting system.

Here are MY rules:

1) The book will go to whoever has the most recs at midnight on Sunday (22nd) (or as soon after this as I can get around to checking, so it might be Monday morning sometime…)
2) To ensure that the book goes to a foodie and not to somebody who is just going to flog it off on ebay, I will only give it to someone with some history of contributing to this board. You don’t have to be a daily poster here, but lurkers can forget it.
3) In the event of a draw, I will add my rec to whichever post I choose, so that there won’t be a draw!
4) I will pay the postage, but it needs to be someone in mainland UK. If you live in Australia, then forget it. This book is HEAVY!
5) Obviously whoever gets it will need to contact me off-board with their name and address so that I can post it out to them.

I can’t say fairer than that can I?
